Teacher in England Jailed Over Historic Abuse of a Pupil She Tutored, ITV News Reports

A teacher in Hertfordshire, England, has been jailed over the historic sexual abuse of a pupil she was tutoring, according to an Oct. 2 report from ITV News Anglia. The conviction concerns conduct from years earlier that was prosecuted long after the fact, as ITV described it.

ITV's coverage centers on the victim, who spoke publicly about the case and, in the outlet's account, pushed back on the idea that the sexual abuse of boys by women is less serious or should be treated as less harmful than other abuse. The station reported that his account was central to the prosecution.

This site does not name the convicted teacher as a matter of policy. The length of the sentence, the charges on which she was convicted, and the victim's full remarks are set out in ITV News' original report.
