San Jose High School Athletic Trainer Arrested on Sexual Battery Allegations Involving a Student, CBS News Bay Area Reports

An athletic trainer at a high school in San Jose, California, has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a student in his care, CBS News Bay Area reported. According to the station, officers were called to the campus after a report of a sexual battery, and detectives with an Internet Crimes Against Children task force took over the investigation and obtained search warrants for the 31-year-old trainer, his residence and his vehicles.

CBS News Bay Area reported that the trainer was arrested on suspicion of offenses including sexual battery, annoying or molesting a minor, and production and possession of child sexual abuse material. Police said they believe additional victims may exist and asked anyone with information to come forward, according to the station.

The allegations are accusations by investigators and have not been adjudicated. Additional Bay Area coverage of the same police announcement reported that the incident under investigation occurred on the evening of Oct. 8 at the school and that investigators allege the assault was recorded on a phone.
