Georgia Sheriff's Deputy Arrested in Investigation Into Alleged Sex Crimes Against Children, Station Reports

A deputy with the Worth County Sheriff's Office in south Georgia has been arrested in connection with alleged sex crimes involving children, WALB reported on September 22. The station said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation provided it with information about the deputy's case that day.

According to WALB, the GBI said it was asked on May 7 to assist with an investigation into allegations concerning contact with a minor. The station reported that the deputy was subsequently taken into custody as that investigation progressed.

WALB's report did not indicate that the deputy has responded publicly to the allegations. The charges are accusations only and have not been proven in court.
