Former Virginia School District Employee Faces Nine New Charges After Three More Children Come Forward
A former employee of Albemarle County Public Schools in Virginia has been charged with nine additional child sexual abuse offenses after three more alleged victims came forward, WRIC reported on Oct. 6. The new charges were filed on Oct. 5, according to the station, and bring the total number of children he is accused of abusing to seven.
WRIC reported that the 37-year-old man was first arrested in early June following a months-long investigation by the Albemarle County Police Department, when a grand jury returned 11 charges tied to allegations that he sexually abused children while working for the school district. He turned himself in two days after those initial indictments, the station reported.
According to WRIC, he now faces 20 charges in total: 16 counts of aggravated sexual battery, three counts of taking indecent liberties and one count of attempted aggravated sexual battery. The accused is not named here as a matter of site policy, and the charges are allegations that have not been proven in court.
