Former Central Illinois Police Officer Charged With Child Sexual Abuse Material Offenses, WCIA Reports

Oct. 9, 2026 · WCIA

A former police officer who previously worked for multiple central Illinois departments has been charged with six counts alleging child sexual abuse material and three counts alleging obscene depiction of a purported child, WCIA reported, citing documents from the Douglas County Circuit Clerk's office.

According to WCIA, the court filings allege that between December 11, 2025 and January 23, 2026 the 45-year-old depicted a child he knew or reasonably should have known was under 18 engaged in sexual conduct, including through computer-generated or similar reproduced imagery, and that during the same period he received or accessed obscene depictions of a purported child with the intent to view them. The station reported that he was arraigned Thursday, that a public defender was appointed, and that a judge ordered him detained while the case proceeds.

WCIA reported that it contacted the departments where the man had worked. A police chief in one small-town department told the station the man had resigned in good standing and was not under investigation at the time, while a spokesperson for the city of Bloomington said he had not been employed there since 2015 and declined further comment.

The charges are allegations that have not been tested at trial. This site does not name criminal defendants.
