Former California High School Flag Football Coach Arrested on Rape Allegations, Then Released Over a Jurisdiction Question, KYMA Reports

Oct. 11, 2026 · KYMA

Police in Calexico, California, arrested a former flag football coach at a local Catholic high school on October 5 on suspicion of rape, unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and sexual assault, KYMA reported. According to the station, investigators allege the former coach sexually abused two underage students connected to the school's flag football program.

In a follow-up report two days later, KYMA said the former coach had been released from custody. The station reported that the Imperial County District Attorney's Office attributed the decision to a jurisdictional issue tied to where the alleged incidents are said to have occurred, rather than to a conclusion about the underlying allegations.

The allegations described in KYMA's reporting are accusations only, and no charges had been shown to be filed in the station's account of the release. Per this site's policy, the accused is not named here; KYMA's reporting is linked above.
