Federal Lawsuit Accuses Pennsylvania School District of a 'Concerted Cover-Up' of Abuse in an Autism Support Classroom

Oct. 1, 2026 · The Philadelphia Inquirer

The parents of a nonverbal autistic 10-year-old have sued the Central Bucks School District and roughly a dozen current and former employees in federal court in Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. According to the Inquirer, the 92-page complaint, filed Sept. 29, alleges a "concerted cover-up" of abuse in an elementary school special education classroom and centers on events that began in the fall of 2024, when a special education aide reported what was happening.

The Inquirer reported that the child is among the students the district itself has said were abused in that classroom in 2024. NBC10 Philadelphia, which also covered the filing, reported that the lawsuit claims the boy was illegally restrained 2,933 times between Sept. 3 and Dec. 20, 2024, and describes additional mistreatment during that stretch of the school year. KYW Newsradio reported the family alleges he was also denied access to water, a bathroom and the communication device he relies on.

The allegations have not been tested in court, and the district has not been found liable. Readers can find the full account of the complaint, including who it names and what the district has previously acknowledged, in the Inquirer's reporting.
