California Teacher Arrested After Investigators Allege More Than 65,000 Child Abuse Images on Home Computer
A high school teacher in Stockton, California, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of possessing child sexual abuse material, CBS Sacramento reported. According to the station, the California Highway Patrol identified the man as a 40-year-old culinary arts teacher at Lincoln High School and said investigators found the material during a preliminary examination of a computer at his residence.
CBS Sacramento reported that CHP investigators allege the teacher had more than 65,000 images of child sexual abuse material. The agency said the arrest followed a months-long investigation that began with an internet protocol address linked to his Stockton home, and that he was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on a state charge of possessing such material, according to the station's account of the CHP's announcement.
Lincoln Unified School District told CBS Sacramento the teacher has been placed on administrative leave. The station reported that a fuller forensic examination of the seized devices is still underway. The allegations have not been tested in court, and the teacher has not entered a plea, per the reporting available at the time of publication.
