Bay Area Graduate Sues High School District Over Alleged Yearslong Abuse by a Teacher, The Almanac Reports
A Menlo-Atherton High School graduate has filed a lawsuit against a former teacher and her high school district alleging sexual abuse when she was a student, The Almanac reported.
According to The Almanac, the complaint alleges the teacher routinely drove the plaintiff, identified in the filing as Jane Doe, to and from school within view of other administrators and staff. The suit names the district for allegedly failing to prevent teachers from sexually abusing students, inadequately investigating and supervising its employees, and failing to warn or educate students about known risks posed by staff, the outlet reported.
The Almanac also reported that the complaint accuses the district of negligence for not reporting the teacher to law enforcement and for shortcomings in policies meant to detect and report suspected abuse, and that the plaintiff believes other students were abused as well.
The claims are allegations in a civil complaint and have not been decided by a court. notadragqueen.org does not name the accused.
